50/50 Winner - Farnham Unplugged Event

OSWEGO, New York (September 30, 2008) – Farnham Family Services will hold a silent art auction as part of their Farnham Unplugged: Rock The Arts Event scheduled for November 6th at 6:00 p.m. at The American Foundry in Oswego.“We wanted to truly showcase the talented artisans that we have in the area,” said Jeanne M. Unger, MS, Executive Director of the Oswego-based non-profit, chemical dependence outpatient substance abuse clinic, with prevention and school-based student assistance counseling services. “Their help with the art auction will directly benefit the families and children of Central New York.”
According to Unger, the silent art action will be another opportunity for Farnham to bring in much needed funds for their ever growing services, and for artisans to display their work to the community.
All donated artwork for the event will be accepted/selected at the discretion of the Farnham Event Committee. All types of artwork, sculptures, photography, etc. are encouraged for submission/consideration.
The Farnham Unplugged: Rock The Arts Event will be this year’s largest fundraising benefit for their Changing Lives Capital Appeal. The agency’s goal for 2008-2009 is $50,000.
In addition to the art auction, the event will be showcased with a variety of CNY musical performances from singers/groups including: Dave Wolever, Gypsy Red, Joanna (Nix) Jewett, N. Riley Heagerty, and special guest drummer John Bletch. The emcee for the evening will be Tom Ciappa. Additional musicians for the evening are also being confirmed.
Each of the musicians will perform “unplugged” or “stripped down” musical selections throughout the course of the evening.
Advance sale tickets are available for $25 per person and $35 for tickets purchased the day of the event. Hors d’oeuvres will also be available.
According to Unger, Farnham Family Services is also calling on individuals, businesses, and corporate partners, to help their non-profit organization continue to “change lives” in the Central New York community by considering a bequest in the way of a donation or by attending their annual event.

Farnham Family Services Making Plans For November 6th Rock The Arts Event
OSWEGO, New York (September 30, 2008) – Plans are underway for Farnham Unplugged: Rock The Arts, a music and art benefit for Farnham Family Services to be held on Thursday, November 6th at 6:00 pm at the American Foundry in Oswego.The fundraising event will feature guest appearances by a variety of Central New York musicians including: Dave Wolever, Gypsy Red, Joanna (Nix) Jewett, N. In addition, a silent art auction showcasing donated artisan work from throughout the region will be available for bidding.

“We’re extremely excited about Farnham Unplugged: Rock The Arts,” said Jeanne M. “Our original plans for this year’s event included #1 New York Times Best Selling Author David Sheff, but when we learned he had to cancel his commitment to our event we chose to take a new direction.”
“To be able to showcase these wonderful regional musicians in a type of MTV style unplugged venue, and then complement that with wonderful pieces of artwork from the area is going to be great,” Unger added.
Farnham Family Services’ annual fundraising events in the past have included Authors Christopher Kennedy Lawford and William Cope Moyers, who spoke about their dependencies on drugs and/or alcohol. Farnham also just recently held their inaugural Farnham Family Fun Night at the Oswego Speedway in August, which attracted an estimated 250 children and families.
According to Unger, Farnham Family Services is calling on individuals, businesses, and corporate partners, to help their non-profit organization continue to “change lives” in the Central New York community by considering a bequest in the way of a donation or by attending their annual event.
“Farnham Family Services has provided so much to the families of Oswego and surrounding counties throughout our history,” Unger said. “And we hope to continue that mission for many more years to come with the help of this community.”

“It provides a great venue for artists to showcase their talents,” she said. “Often it is these types of events that provide great exposure and potential new opportunities for many artists.”
